These are the questions that echo in every corner of our country. Due to the nuclear deal the Left parties withdrew its support for the government so the majority has gone down. So the Prime Minister has to prove his majority in order to complete his full tenure. Now what is more important for the government is getting the magic number of 271, which is the half way mark to number seats in Lok Sabha. The opposition NDA has 265 votes against the government, whereas the ruling UPA has 256 votes at its kitty. But they need 14 more votes to save their government. There 19 undecided votes left. Of which 14 in favor of UPA will save this government. So the UPA is trying every possible way to convince these MP’s to vote for them.

Due this crisis many small parties have gained significance. Since every vote counts, the smaller parties are taking advantages of it in order to get their works done. There are also some reports that 3 or 4 MP’s from the opposition NDA side will abstain voting. This will lessen the half way mark to 267. So UPA is having its fingers crossed. The trust vote will be taken on Monday.

The double storage iPhone comes with a price tag of $499, while the existing 8GB model remains $399. The new 16GB iPhone costs just as much as the old 4GB iPhone, which was discontinued after the initial launch.

Hi everyone!!

In my last post I described about the flaws in the first day of TECHOFES. It will not be fair if I didn’t tell about the rest of the days in TECHOFES.

The second and third day of TECHOFES simply rocks. It vansihes the blunder that happened in the first day. In second day I participated in DUMB C prelims. And the mega event of second day was simply superb. VARIETY was bagged by MIT. And I watched LIGHT MUSIC event fully but I don’t the result. But all the colleges performed like a professionals. During light music, few minutes rain did the collapse. But all ends in nice manner.

And in the third day, the mega even was the FASHION SHOW and CHOERO NITE. FASHION SHOW was bagged by defending champs LOYOLA. They simply rocked the RAMP. And coming to my favorite event CHOERO NITE, totally around 10 colleges entered into the finals. The unexpected team was MADHA ENGINEERING COLLEGE. They performed a theme dance with huge set and cool costume. And the tough competition between the CRESCENT and the defending champs AM JAIN. Both performed equally well. And the third place was shared by SASTHA and ETHIRAJ. Second place was shared by MADHA and AM JAIN. And the winner was undoubtedly the CRESCENT.

The TECHOFES 08 was ended with the DJ NITE. After a long time, I thoroughly enjoyed myself by dancing non-stop with my school friends.

The main stage looked cool and the settings were grand with good light settings. And the informal events conducted by both AIRTEL and PRESIDENT OF TECHOFES added even more flavor to the cultural.

On the whole, TECHOFES 08 ends in a grand manner.

Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday became the first batsman in the history of one-day cricket to cross the 16,000-run mark, a milestone which appears to be a distant dream for any other player in near future.

Tendulkar, who scored 35 runs against Sri Lanka in the second tri-series ODI at the Gabba, now tallies 16007 runs which is far more than Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya's aggregate of 12207, second in the list of all time top scorers.

The champion batsman from India achieved the feat when he scored his 28th run during the India innings in his 409th match.

Tendulkar seems set to stay at the pinnacle for a long time as Jayasuriya and former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul Haq, who is third in the list with 11739 runs, are not anywhere near to surpass the record.

Next in the list is another Indian Sourav Ganguly (11363) but with selectors shutting the ODI doors on him, he also does not appear a likely candidate to achieve the feat. He is followed by Australian captain Ricky Ponting (10835) and Rahul Dravid (10585).

Kapil Dev and his boys took on the mighty Clive Lloyds West Indies team. The odds were 61:1 against India. India played first and scored only 183 which was a small target for great team like West Indies. There are hardly few colleges in Chennai who will conduct the cultural in a grand manner. Some of the colleges are IIT, MIT, ANNA UNIVERSITY, KMC, MMC, MCC, SSN, LOYOLA, etc.

TECHOFES, ANNA UNIVERSITY Cultural started today (14^th Feb). It is a mega event in the Anna University. They got hell lot of sponsors like AIRTEL, STATE BANK OF INDIA, L&T, PEPSICO, HYUNDAI, CROCODILE, RAMCO CEMENT and many more. Imagine how much money and resource they are having. Now I am coming to the point.

Here it is…. I am good in Advertising the Product. As I told earlier, my team bagged lot of prizes in Ad Zap and we are untouchable in Chennai. Our hobby is to go to all the college cultural and symposium. Particularly we participate in Ad Zap and Dumb C.

As usual we planned to go to TECHOFES. I searched the TECHOFES Site and I saw that the Ad Zap (MAD ZAP) event is at 14.00 on 14^th Feb. Right now my team members all are busy with projects. Still we planned some how and adjusted our timing to attend this event. I reached the Anna University today (14^th Feb) at 12.30 much earlier than the specified time. But I was shocked by an incident. It is nothing but the First Round of Ad Zap Finals. Already the Ad Zap Prelims was over at 10.30. I argued to the judges (juniors). But they coolly said a word “SORRY”. I argued them as “how can you change the timings just like that”. They said it’s our entire mistake, please forgive us.

Today was one of the amazing days for Srilanka when it was everything going their way. Then India came to bat with a huge target. Once again Sachin was LBW by Bret Lee. Then Sehwag and Rohit Sharma followed Sachin to the pavilion. Then the most elegant left hander Yuvraj Singh came to bat and he fell cheaply to Stuart Clark. Then the Indian innings was steadied by the solid partnership between captain Dhoni and Gambhir. Dhoni departs after scoring selfish knock of 36 of 66 balls. Then Uthappa and Gambhir fought a lot but already the required rate hits the Himalayas. Gambhir scored a brilliant 111 and Uthappa scored 56. Harbhajan and Pathan also contributed some runs in the slog over. At last India managed to get 299 in 49.1 overs. Bret Lee once again took 5 wickets haul.

I don’t find any difference between the previous senior team and the present junior team. Here I want to list few suggestions to the Indians in order to improve in next match.

Sachin should be rested in the next match. Since he had played lots of matches continuously in this tour, he should take some rest and come well in the finals.

Sreesanth should be dropped in next match. He is not finding his line and length properly through out this series. Either Manoj Tiwari or Praveen Kumar should give another chance. It will add strength to batting also.

Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh should be dropped. For both of the player enough opportunity has been given. But they didn’t use it properly. Yuvraj is not all totally fit. We are having enough resources there in dressing room. It is absolutely mad to stick with these players. May be Dinesh Karthick and Suresh Raina should give chance.

Dhoni should play his natural game. Everybody knows he plays with his own style. He is not a player who can play strokes where there is a gap. He is a hard hitter. So there is no point in leaving the ball and playing dot balls. It is totally absurd playing dot balls and leaving the ball when the required rate is above 7 per over. At least you can rotate the strike. Earlier, Dravid did the same mistake. Now Dhoni took his job. Then what is difference between you two. Dhoni should play his natural innings if not, please come down the order and ask Uthappa to bat ahead of Dhoni.

These are the few points I want to suggest the Indian Captain to follow to win the next match. Still we got one more match to go. It is the must win situation for us. So act accordingly, rectify your mistakes, follow the above said lists and play wisely.

But in the recent past, they’ve been trying their best to catch-up with other feature rich blogging engines like WordPress. One of the newest features to join Blogger is post scheduling. This means, you can write posts in advance, and publish it in future. And when the future date and time arrives, it’ll automatically be published on your blog.

This feature comes in handy for those, who are planning to go on vacation, but don’t want to disappoint their reader. Previously, even if a future date was set, it used to go live as soon as we hit the publish button.

Microsoft fighting hard to win the yahoo bid

As a response to Yahoo!’s rejection, Microsoft has issued a statement and it seems as if MS is planning to bypass Yahoo’s board decision and make a hostile bid. Here’s an excerpt from their response:

“The Yahoo! response does not change our belief in the strategic and financial merits of our proposal. As we have said previously, Microsoft reserves the right to pursue all necessary steps to ensure that Yahoo!’s shareholders are provided with the opportunity to realize the value inherent in our proposal”

Yahoo!’s board must be breaking their heads right now, trying to figure out a way to evade Microsoft. On the other hand, Microsoft finds Yahoo!’s juicy assets to be tempting, and they are willing to put all their efforts to grab Yahoo! They’ll possibly be slapped with antitrust issues from Department of Justice, which means they still have a long way to go before stealing Yahoo!

Kapil Dev Vs BCCI once again

Former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev's stormy relationship with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) continued with a fresh spate of allegations.

In the latest development, the former India captain has moved the Delhi High Court against the Board.

Kapil Dev filed an affidavit with the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, alleging that the BCCI deliberately amended the rules, after he joined the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL), in order to stop his post-retirement benefits.

The legendary player had been receiving pension and other benefits since the year 2000, when the BCCI announced its pension scheme for retired cricketers.

However, after the inception of the ICL, the BCCI announced that anyone joining the rebel league would not be considered for any benefits.

Yahoo! plans to reject Microsoft's $44.6-billion takeover bid after concluding that the unsolicited offer undervalues the troubled Internet giant

Yahoo!'s board believes the offer of $31 per share also does not account for the risk that a deal could be blocked by regulators, the Wall Street Journal newspaper reported on Saturday, citing a source familiar with the situation.

The source said that the company is unlikely to consider any bid below $40 per share. Such a premium would increase the value of the takeover offer by $12 billion.

Yahoo!'s decision could set the stage for a showdown between Microsoft Corp, the world's largest software maker based in Redmond, Washington, and Google Inc. Google has already offered to help Yahoo! avoid a takeover and urged antitrust regulators to take a hard look at the proposed deal.

Google felt alarmed because a Microsoft-Yahoo! merger would create a formidable rival to its leadership position as Internet search and advertising leader.

Now, if Microsoft wants Yahoo! badly enough to take on Google, analysts say it could still go directly to the shareholders. Pursuing that route may require Microsoft to try to oust Yahoo!'s current 10-member board. Its other option is to up the ante.

Yahoo!, acknowledging Microsoft's offer, in a statement February 1 said they "will evaluate this proposal carefully and promptly in the context of Yahoo!'s strategic plans and pursue the best course of action to maximise long-term value for shareholders".

Despite falling revenues and stock value, Yahoo!, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, retains one of the Internet's largest audiences and is one of the most powerful advertising vehicles.

Yahoo!'s board met Friday and reached the decision to reject the Microsoft offer after exploring a wide variety of alternatives during the past week. Yahoo! is expected to officially announce its decision Monday despite the fact that it does not have any other potential bidder willing to offer a higher price.

But by doing so, Yahoo! risks further alienating its shareholders who are already upset about management missteps that have led to five consecutive quarters of falling profits.

Heavy snowfall in Kashmir; 3,000 stranded

Heavy snowfall in the Kashmir valley forced the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the only surface link between the valley and the rest of the country, for the second day on Tuesday, official sources said.

The 300-km highway, which was reopened only on Sunday after being closed for three days, had to be closed again in the evening following heavy snowfall and landslides at several places.

Nearly 3,000 people have been stranded by the closure. The locals of Nogum, Thater and Sukha villages near Jawahar tunnel have provided them accommodation, while the army provided food and other facilities.

The Border Roads Organisation has stepped up efforts to clear the arterial road of snow and landslides. But fresh snowing around the Jawahar tunnel is hampered their efforts, sources said.

A thick layer of snow covered the highway between Patnitop hill station and Banihal, the gateway to the valley, the sources added.

Early on Tuesday morning, a three-foot thick layer of snow covered the Patnitop resort, and vehicles on their way to Srinagar were stopped at Nagrota, about 12 km from Jammu, they said.

Windows Vista SP1 RTM Leaks!

Vista SP1 has been released to manufacturing, but due to specific related driver issues, Microsoft has decided not to release it via Windows Update until mid-march. This means Vista users still have to curiously wait for weeks to lay their hands on SP1. but Pirates already have already released it on various torrent tracker sites.

Usually, it doesn’t take long for Pirates to make their unofficial release, but this time Microsoft didn’t reveal the build number of the final version of SP1. That made it hard for Pirates to determine which build of Vista SP1 was the final version. Thanks to Paul Thurrott, who somehow got his hands over SP1 RTM version and confirmed that the build version is 6001.18000!

Standalone installer of Vista SP1 is available on ThePirateBay with sufficient seeders. You can find it by searching for “Vista SP1 6001.18000“. (Hint: It’s about 434.46 MB in size)

At the risk of stating the obvious, search major Google doesn't seem to be too happy with the proposed Yahoo! acquisition by Microsoft. The company has for the first time publicly reacted to Microsoft's unsolicited bid for Yahoo!
